It may not be overly surprising that the rather liberal Pope Francis would make such a claim, as he has been pushing Catholicism toward accepting homosexuality for some time, yet it is still worth noting his recent statements. “But why should I care what the pope does, or what Catholics do?” Well hypothetical Christian, it is important because the Catholic church holds influence over ~1 billion people. Not that all those people are truly Catholic, nor would they automatically agree to accept homosexuality. Still, that large influence cannot be ignored, especially as those same people are being hammered by secular society at the same time. This just reemphasizes how important it is for us as Christians to stand for a Biblical view of marriage and sexuality, especially when so many in the church are pushing in the opposite direction or trying to make compromises.
