Woke, Lesbian Atheist Declares the Truth Of Romans 1

How Rejecting God can Speak Loud About His Existence

Controversial, woke, and lesbian soccer player, Megan Rapinoe, has made it into the news for her comment after a game ending injury that “I’m not a religious person or anything and if there was a God, like, this is proof that there isn’t. This is f***ed up.”

Many have pointed out the irony of a person that has spent so much time mocking God, is now blaming God for her getting injured. Yet… also claiming her getting injured is proof God doesn’t exist? This is just confusing. She wants someone to blame, so allows God to be real so she can blame Him. Yet she doesn’t want Him to be real, because then she’s responsible for her sin.

That’s really the crux of this, as it shows how people know God exists, and know what is right and wrong. Yet they suppress that truth in unrighteousness. (Romans 1:18) She is someone who has been given up to the lusts of her heart (Romans 1:24) and exchanged the natural for the unnatural. (Romans 1:26)

When injured, her response it to cry out against God, why? Because she, though knowing God, does not honor Him as God, and has had her foolish heart darkened. (Romans 1:21) She knows He’s there, but doesn’t want to submit to Him, so she has the audacity to blame Him for her misfortune. What is this misfortune? She fell and got hurt, causing her to miss a soccer game. Which is both God’s fault, and proof that there is not God. If that is not the definition of “professing to be wise, she’s become a fool” (Romans 1:22) then I don’t know what is.

She worships the creature, and specifically soccer, rather than the Creator. (Romans 1:25) This is not to ignore her worship of her sexuality, but we’re focusing on the fact that she was so upset about missing a soccer game, that she blamed someone she says doesn’t exist. Again, soccer, a game, that’s what sparked this. It’s a tremendous level of self-absorption and self-worship that she displays, yet she has to have that or else she’d be crushed by the weight of her sin, and the reality that God exists. It’s her only defense. Yet, when the god of soccer and self lets her down, where does she turn? To the true God. But instead of turning to Him for salvation, it’s to salvage her own gods by putting the blame somewhere else (blaming God) and justifying her gods. (claiming God doesn’t exist) She, desperately, tries to claim that her gods have conquered God, all while the god of soccer has failed her and the god of herself has been revealed to be fallible.

To be blunt, it’s as if Romans 1 is a commentary on this incident, with how much she plays into what God’s Word says. It’s almost as if God’s Word is perfect, authoritative, universal, and absolute truth. And this commentary isn’t about condemnation either, for her action have already condemned her. It’s about mercy. Yes, indeed Romans 1 is about mercy, because it’s for the reason of repentance that she, and all who reject God, have been given over to her passions (Romans 1:24,26) so that the law, written on her heart (Romans 2:15) may work to bring knowledge of sin, (Romans 3:20) in order that she might repent and be saved.

I could go on about the connection between this small comment and Romans 1, and yes, I did start to get into other chapters by the end. This is meant to be a quick take on the situation, not an expansive examination, so we will leave it with one final verse that we can pray Megan heeds:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 6:23

  1. She reminds me of Nancy Kerrigan when got attacked, and cried out “why me” . The arrogance and the fact that Rapinoe thinks she shouldn’t be the one to get hurt while playing sports. People get hurt playing sports, it’s that simple. God is not make bad things happen to people. Because He is Good. He can make good things happen from something bad, that is the miraculous work God does. Many people believe good will come from Rapinoe leaving the game, she’s been nothing but toxic to the team and to the sport. Most ungrateful to God that gave her the gift and opportunity to live the life she has been able live. She is so completely lost in the matrix of lies.
