Mini Profile: Chris Butler

This mini profile was made as part of our look at the “2024 Exiles in Babylon Conference” and Max Lucado’s involvement in that conference. Click here for the main article on that story.
Chris Butler by his own admission is a “serial organizer” hailing from the Southside of Chicago. He currently leads Chicago Embassy Church Network and is the senior pastor of Chicago Embassy Church in the Englewood community of Chicago. Butler co-authored “Compassion and Conviction: The AND Campaigns Guide To Faithful Civic Engagement” with Justin Giboney and Micheal Wear.
- Organized for Barack Obama
- In 2004, Chris “registered and mobilized young voters as the Youth and Young Adult Coordinator on Barack Obama’s 2004 Campaign for U.S. Senate.” Obama would go on to be one of the most anti-American presidents, whose impact we’re still feeling deeply today.
- Advocates for “Guaranteed Basic Income” and “universal healthcare” AKA Socialism
- In a piece for the Chicago Tribune, Chris argued for a “guaranteed basic income,” which is a form of wealth distribution. Money is heavily taxed from all, then a small portion is given back. All this amounts to is government stealing that leaves everyone poorer. His advocacy for socialism dose not end there, as in a campaign video, he would advocate for “universal healthcare.” Again, all that is, is government stealing, leaving everyone poorer and less capable of accessing proper healthcare, or making personal healthcare decisions.
- Ran as a Democrat, supports “LGBT+” legislation
- Chris ran for US congress in 2022 as a Democrat. In his campaign video, he states that he supports legislation that protects “LGBT rights.” This is strange, since there are not rights that “LGBT” people do not have in this country. The only “rights” they are lacking, are special protections, the ability to persecute those who disagree with them, and the ability to “marry” members of the opposite sex. But even those things aren’t true, as all of those government granted privileges and protections are ones they have. This is a common lie by people to justify their support of sexual deviancy.
- Author of Compassion (&) Conviction for the AND Campaign
- He is also coauthor of the book “Compassion (&) Conviction” for the “woke” organization, the AND Campaign. The book, the organization, and Chris, promote ideas such as Critical Race Theory, even by name. Here are two basic quotes from the book to help illustrate that point.
- …the church should be leading the way. We can understand and appreciate identity politics, intersectionality, and critical race theory. (p 101)
- …even well-meaning people and institutions engage in practices that reproduce and reinforce negative outcomes such as segregation, disadvantages for minorities in the job market, and the portrayal of whiteness as superior in public communications and entertainment (p 98)

Chris Butler is someone who is willing to partner with baby murders, enshrine sexual deviancy into law, and promotes Marxist ideas. Why is this man speaking to Christians? This is not the type of person we should be asking about how a Christian should handle church and politics as he doesn’t understand either of those things, Biblically speaking.
