David Platt’s Church Reignites Push for Woke Pastor

McLean Bible Church, home of Pastor David Platt, has reignited its push for a woke pastor. The pastor in question is Mike Kelsey who has said that “it is difficult for [him] sometimes not to just torch all white people because particularly white evangelicals and Christians.” More than that, he encouraged children to hold Black Lives Matter signs at rallies in 2020. To see both of these things clearly, watch this short video from Salvador Cordova, who was an influential member of McLean at the time.

Kelsey is part of a larger drama over social justice that erupted at the church in 2021, and there is still an active legal battle as of this date. Seemingly learning lessons from pervious drama around voting, the vote to affirm Kelsey was done online. This vote would be to affirm Kelsey as one of their “lead pastors,” (they have multiple “lead” pastors) and according to them, he would “carry the primary leadership responsibility among our Lead Pastors.” They have since removed information regarding the vote from their website, though there is an archived version, and the results of the vote have not been made public yet.
